A former Fendt employee has gone on trial in the German town of Nördlingen after being accused of stealing tractor components from the company’s Bavarian production facility over a period of several years, according to the Polish agricultural news portal Farmer.pl, citing the German newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine.
Prosecutors allege that the defendant removed more than 1,000 LED work lights intended for new tractors, causing an estimated €90,000 in losses to the manufacturer. Investigators claim the parts were later sold through online classified advertising platforms.
Messages could play a key role
According to media reports, one of the prosecution’s key pieces of evidence consists of messages the former employee exchanged with friends via messaging apps. Prosecutors argue that the conversations provide insight into how the alleged thefts were carried out and how the stolen components were subsequently marketed.
The defendant denies part of the allegations. The court is expected to hear testimony from witnesses and review the available evidence before delivering its verdict.
